1962 Memories

Lost Pubs. Memories of The Railway Signal Pub, at Bromley South, by Steve Sandford⭐. (The pub used to be round about where Bromley Police Station is now) Thanks Steve for sharing. Steve writes 'I lived there as a kid. February 1961 to April 1965, aged 5 to nearly 10. The pub was like the Tardis. Apart from the three bars, there were, from memory, 18 other rooms, 5 different staircases, 3 separate garden areas and a couple of real proper concrete air raid shelters. Perfect for a small boy with a dog to grow up in. During the winter of 1962-63 the snow started to fall on Boxing Day and must have lasted for a good 6 weeks. We ran out of beer, so Dad got a friend to fix chains to the wheels of his coal lorry and we set off to the Ind Coope Brewery in Westerham to replenish. First vehicle up or down Westerham Hill in nearly a month.
